Surrey CC Award for Excellence
Surrey County Council win award for Best New Shared Service Centre Organisation
Surrey County Council competed successfully against Philips, Reuters and JTI to win the European award for Best New Shared Service Centre Organisation at a ceremony held in Amsterdam in May.
The Shared Services Excellence Awards have been established to honour, recognise and promote Shared Services Organisations (SSOs) that demonstrate true best practices. To identify and assess these leading organisations, the Shared Services & Outsourcing Network assembled an accomplished panel of shared services experts and leaders to accurately and objectively evaluate the true effectiveness of top SSOs.
Background…
Surrey County Council’s ambitious Shared Service Centre initiative brought disparate services from departments across the organisation together, uniting them at new premises whilst introducing new systems and modernised processes focussed on delivering better customer service. Their work has now been recognised as among the best in Europe.
Head of Shared Services, Debra Maxwell and her team expertly managed the significant procedural and infrastructure change and identified the importance of engendering a new culture to ensure this was a success. JGP were very pleased to play a role in this part of the project.
Surrey CC used the JGP Skills Portal to help engage with staff affected by the change, giving them access to the new opportunities most suited to their skills and experience, and ensuring those entering the new Shared Service Centre had the skills required. The Skills Portal will go on to be an important tool in the continuing management and development of the Shared Service Centre and its staff.
Congratulations to Debra and the Surrey CC team!
